WASHINGTON, DC - The Energy Subcommittee, chaired by Rep. Fred Upton (R-MI), today scheduled a hearing for Thursday, Nov. 2, 2017, at 10 a.m. in room 2123 of the Rayburn House Office Building. The hearing is entitled, “The 2017 Hurricane Season: A Review of Emergency Response and Energy Infrastructure Recovery Efforts."
Following Hurricanes Harvey, Irma, and Maria, #SubEnergy will examine the federal and state emergency response and recovery efforts. Specifically, members of the subcommittee will hear from the Department of Energy and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers officials and other experts to receive an update on the Puerto Rico energy crisis and examine lessons learned so far from the hurricanes that hit the Gulf Coast.
“While these hurricanes wreaked havoc in communities across our nation, they also raised a series of questions that the subcommittee plans on digging into at next week’s hearing," said Chairman Upton. “From fuel supply disruptions to electricity outages, I’m looking forward to hearing from our panel of witnesses to help inform our efforts so we can identify infrastructure vulnerabilities to be better prepared for future storms."
On Oct. 24, the Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee held a hearing examining the public health response and preparedness efforts for Hurricanes Harvey, Irma, and Maria.as they are posted.
