Pallone Assails Trump FCC for Repealing Net Neutrality

The following press release was published by the House Committee on Energy and Commerce on Dec. 14, 2017. It is reproduced in full below.

Energy and Commerce Ranking Member Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-NJ) released the following statement today following the Federal Communications Commission’s (FCC) 3-2 vote to repeal net neutrality consumer protections:

“Free and open access to the internet is critical for jobs and small businesses, and it is essential for free speech online. Today’s action by the Trump FCC will strip control of the internet away from the American people and give it to large corporate interests. Without net neutrality, internet service providers will have the power to block some websites, speed up others and charge extra for certain content.

“By ignoring the overwhelming outcry of millions of Americans, the FCC’s Republican members are once again siding with their corporate cronies. This abdication of responsibility will not stand, and I will keep fighting to put the FCC’s net neutrality protections back in place."
