WASHINGTON, DC - The Subcommittee on Energy, chaired by Rep. Fred Upton (R-MI), today announced a hearing for Tuesday, February 6, 2017, at 10 a.m. in room 2123 of the Rayburn House Office Building. The hearing is entitled, “DOE Modernization: Advancing the Economic and National Security Benefits of America’s Nuclear Infrastructure."
Next week’s hearing marks the second hearing as part of the committee’s recently announced ‘DOE Modernization ’ series. Members will examine issues associated with the current domestic nuclear supply chain, international nuclear market opportunities, and options for future development and deployment of nuclear technologies. The hearing will provide #SubEnergy members an opportunity to learn more about what is necessary for U.S. global leadership in nuclear technology to meet long-term economic and national security objectives.
“This important hearing will give our members the opportunity to take a comprehensive, forward- thinking look at the current and future role of civilian application of nuclear technologies both here at home and across the globe," said #SubEnergy Chairman Upton. “We will also look at current DOE and Nuclear Regulatory Commission policies to see how they’re impacting the nation’s domestic nuclear industry and the efforts to develop and deploy advanced nuclear technologies."
