WASHINGTON, DC - Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Greg Walden (R-OR) and Health Subcommittee Chairman Michael C. Burgess, M.D. (R-TX) today issued the following statement after the Trump Administration announced the nomination of Dr. Robert Redfield as Director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

“There are no shortage of public health issues on the horizon, and we look forward to having a new partner in our efforts to deliver for the American people. In particular, we are at a critical juncture when it comes to combating the opioid crisis. Working with Dr. Redfield, we aim to advance meaningful reforms that can help stem the tide and provide the necessary resources to those struggling with addiction."
