Pallone Blasts Trump Administration’s Title X Gag Rule

The following press release was published by the House Committee on Energy and Commerce on Feb. 22, 2019. It is reproduced in full below.

Energy and Commerce Chairman Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-NJ) released the following statement today on the Trump Administration’s draft final Title X rule :

“This final rule is yet another blatant attack on women’s health by the Trump Administration that violates the Title X statute and defies Congressional intent. Title X was created to ensure Americans have access to comprehensive family planning and related preventive health services. By dismantling the qualified family planning provider network, today’s action undermines the goals of the program as enacted by Congress and weakens the critical safety net that Title X provides.

“As we have seen time and again, the Trump Administration is willing to break the law to pursue policies driven by ideology rather than what is best for women and their families. I oppose this rule in the strongest of terms and I will continue to fight to protect and support this essential program."
