Energy and Commerce Chairman Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-NJ) and Energy Subcommittee Chairman Bobby Rush (D-IL) released the following statement today on the passage of the Streamlining Energy Efficiency for Schools Act of 2019 (H.R. 762):
“Helping our nation’s schools become energy efficient is a win both for our schools and our children," said Pallone and Rush. “Energy efficient schools save money and produce fewer emissions, which will result in a healthier environment. This bill takes an important step toward those goals, and we’re proud that it received strong bipartisan support in the House today."
The legislation, introduced by Rep. Matt Cartwright (D-PA), would establish a national clearinghouse of information on programs and financing options for schools interested in carrying out energy efficiency projects. Such information would include resources to help initiate, develop, and finance energy efficiency, distributed generation and retrofitting projects. The bill now moves to the Senate for consideration.
