Committee Advances Six Bipartisan Bills Aimed at Lowering Drug Prices

The following press release was published by the House Committee on Energy and Commerce on April 3, 2019. It is reproduced in full below.

WASHINGTON, DC - Energy and Commerce Committee Republican Leader Greg Walden (R-OR) and Subcommittee on Health Republican Leader Michael C. Burgess, M.D. (R-TX) released the following statement after the committee passed six bills related to lowering the costs of prescription drugs for consumers.

“Too many Americans across the country cannot afford the prescription drugs they desperately need. Today, Congress is responding. The bills passing the committee will help reduce drug prices by bringing more generic competition to market," Walden and Burgess said. “This will make a real difference for many Americans and this just goes to show that when we work together, we can achieve real results. We look forward to advancing these policies to the full House of Representatives for consideration so we can ensure patients get the earliest possible access to more affordable prescription drugs."
