WASHINGTON, DC - Energy and Commerce Committee Republican Leader Greg Walden (R-OR) and Health Subcommittee Republican Leader Michael C. Burgess, M.D. (R-TX) issued the following statement after the Senate passed H.R. 1839, the Medicaid Services Investment and Accountability Act of 2019. This package of bills includes short-term extensions of several key Medicaid programs and passed the House last month.
“We are grateful that the Senate has passed this critical legislation to extend funding for a number of key Medicaid programs," Walden and Burgess said. “Americans rely on these safety net programs each day, and the ACE Kids Act will ensure that children with complex health conditions receive quality, coordinated care. Though we would have preferred to have passed a longer extension of these programs, this final product is a step in the right direction. We urge President Trump to sign this bill into law expeditiously."
