Energy and Commerce Chairman Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-NJ) and Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee Chair Diana DeGette (D-CO) announced today that the Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee will hold a hearing on Tuesday, Jan. 14, at 10 am in the John D. Dingell Room, 2123 of the Rayburn House Office Building. The hearing is entitled, “A Public Health Emergency: State Efforts to Curb the Opioid Crisis."
“The Energy and Commerce Committee has worked closely with states and localities to provide the federal funding and resources needed to help people affected by the opioid crisis," Pallone and DeGette said. “This hearing will give us the opportunity to hear directly from state health officials on the front lines of this epidemic on how federal funds are being put to use to assist those struggling with substance use disorders."
Last year, bipartisan Energy and Commerce Committee leaders sent letters to 16 states asking how the states are using federal funds to assist treatment and recovery efforts in response to the opioid crisis.
Information for this hearing, including the Committee Memorandum, witness list, testimony and a live webcast will be posted HERE as they become available.
