Walden Reacts to the State of the Union Address

WASHINGTON, DC - Energy and Commerce Committee Republican Leader Greg Walden (R-OR) released the following statement in reaction to President Donald Trump’s State of the Union address. Walden specifically addressed the President’s leadership on lowering health care costs and promoting America’s energy independence.

“I’ve never seen a President lean in further than President Donald Trump on lowering health care costs. He is engaged, he cares, and he wants results. President Trump is committed to driving down the cost of unaffordable prescription drugs; he is committed to helping American families. This stands in stark contrast to the command and control view of many in the Democratic Party today," said Walden.

“When discussing President Trump’s energy record, you have to remember last Congress where he signed into law legislation promoting hydropower and emissions-free nuclear energy. The President has been a part of the equation in promoting energy sources with lower emissions profiles. Further, I applaud the President for continuing to champion America’s energy independence. This is a big deal that does not get nearly enough credit for strengthening our economy and security, while lowering emissions. If we elect a President Bernie Sanders this goes away," Walden continued.
