Energy and Commerce Chairman Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-NJ) and Energy Subcommittee Chairman Bobby L. Rush (D-IL) announced today that the Energy Subcommittee will hold a hearing on Tuesday, July 14, at 12 p.m. (EDT) in the John D. Dingell Room, 2123 of the Rayburn House Office Building on the Department of Energy’s (DOE) priorities for the upcoming year and response to the COVID-19 pandemic with Energy Secretary Dan Brouillette. The hearing is entitled, “Oversight of DOE During the COVID-19 Pandemic."
“The Department of Energy is responsible for overseeing some of the largest and fastest-growing sectors of our economy, as well as managing countless critical programs designed to help homeowners and business owners alike," Pallone and Rush said. “Its efforts toward these ends have never been more important than they are right now, as millions of Americans in the energy sector lose their jobs, and millions more struggle to pay their energy bills. At this hearing, we’ll question Secretary Brouillette about these and other issues, including DOE’s responsibility to oversee our nuclear weapons stockpile, ensure a more diverse workforce and its response to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic."
This will be a hybrid hearing that includes both in person and remote member attendance via Cisco Webex video conferencing. The U.S. House of Representatives Office Buildings and the U.S. Capitol Complex are currently closed to the public.
