House Republican Leaders Applaud CFATS Extension

The following press release was published by the House Committee on Energy and Commerce on July 20, 2020. It is reproduced in full below.

Washington, DC - Energy and Commerce Committee Republican Leader Greg Walden (R-OR) and Homeland Security Committee Republican Leader Mike Rogers (R-AL) released the following statement after the House unanimously voted to extend the Chemical Facility Anti-Terrorism Standards program (CFATS).

“Since the September 11th terrorist attacks, CFATS has played a vital role in keeping our high-risk chemical facilities secure through its use of compliance standards that fit the unique challenges faced by each facility. This is not your garden variety regulatory program; it is vital to our national security. We thank our Senate colleagues for coming together to extend this important program for 3 years and we are proud to join in supporting this effort on the House floor today," Walden and Rogers said.
