Washington, D.C. - Energy and Commerce Committee Republican Leader Greg Walden (R-OR) and Health Subcommittee Republican Leader Dr. Michael Burgess (R-TX) released the following statement on House Democrats’ attempt to undermine the Supreme Court by blocking funding to enforce the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) rule on religious and moral objections to contraceptive coverage.
“House Democrats are, once again, trying to move forward with their radical agenda at all costs. This time, it’s by sneaking in a provision on a must-pass bill. This is no way to legislate, and it’s certainly no way to fund our government. Simply put, this is an unacceptable attempt to circumvent the ruling of our highest court, and Congress should not allow this to happen," said Walden and Burgess.
