Washington, DC - Energy and Commerce Committee Republican Leader Greg Walden (R-OR) and incoming Energy and Commerce Committee Republican Leader for the 117th Congress Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA) released a statement on the end-of-year omnibus and COVID-19 relief package.
“While we hoped some of these compromises could have happened earlier this Congress, we thank House Democrats for coming to the table and working with us to find policy solutions that will improve the lives of the American people during COVID-19 and help our nation restore, rebuild, and renew the American Dream. This package is not perfect, but there are certainly several bipartisan wins that should be celebrated, including helping patients avoid surprise medical bills, expanding access to broadband services across U.S. communities, assisting smaller, rural providers to rip and replace Huawei equipment and other suspect gear from our networks, reauthorizing pipeline safety measures to ensure the safe transportation of natural gas, promoting carbon capture technologies to reduce emissions, helping the U.S. beat China in the race to emerging technologies, and more," said Walden and Rodgers.
