Energy and Commerce Chairman Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-NJ) and Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee Chair Diana DeGette (D-CO) announced today that the Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee will hold a fully remote hearing on Wednesday, March 10, at 10:30 a.m. (EST) on the critical need to restore the mission of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and how the agency can address climate change and other urgent challenges to the nation’s environment and public health. The hearing is entitled, “The Path Forward: Restoring the Vital Mission of EPA."
“After being undermined for the past four years, today’s EPA faces an uphill battle to address the climate crisis, environmental injustice, and other major environmental challenges facing our country and the planet," Pallone and DeGette said. “Thankfully, the Biden Administration is committed to building a strong EPA and empowering the agency to engage on these urgent issues. At next week’s hearing, we’re looking forward to hearing from former EPA leaders about what steps must be taken to undo the damage done to the agency over the last four years and to re-empower it to fulfill its mission."
This hearing will be conducted remotely via Cisco Webex video conferencing. Members of the public may view the hearing via live webcast accessible on the Energy and Commerce Committee’s website. Please note the webcast will not be available until the hearing begins.
