Pallone Statement on DOE Initiating Rulemaking Process for New Efficiency Standards for Lightbulbs

The following press release was published by the House Committee on Energy and Commerce on May 20, 2021. It is reproduced in full below.

Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-NJ) issued the following statement today after the Department of Energy announced it is seeking public input to initiate the rulemaking process for new lightbulb energy efficiency standards:

“Energy efficiency standards are one of the best, most impactful tools we have for combating the climate crisis and saving consumers money on their energy bills - and that’s particularly true for the standards we set on lightbulbs. Strengthening these standards will help lower families’ electric bills and support American ingenuity and manufacturing right here at home. It’s a win-win, and I applaud the Biden Administration for gathering public input and taking meaningful action to arm American consumers with the best, most cost-effective products available."
