Washington, D.C. - Republican Leader of the Energy and Commerce Committee Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA) Energy Subcommittee Republican Leader Fred Upton (R-MI) released the following statement about the energy infrastructure bills:
“This week, the People’s House took action on several bipartisan Energy and Commerce bills to bolster the energy emergency and cybersecurity responsibilities at the Department of Energy. This builds on our work to make sure expert agencies, like DOE, are empowered to combat bad actors and protect our critical infrastructure, including pipelines and our electric grid. We’re grateful for and applaud the work of our colleagues, including Reps. Latta and Walberg, for their work on these solutions to strengthen our energy infrastructure to help ensure America wins the future."
The bills passed include:
* H.R. 3119, The Energy Emergency Leadership Act led by Rep. Tim Walberg (R-MI) and Rep. Bobby Rush (D-IL)
* H.R. 2931, The Enhancing Grid Security through Public-Private Partnerships Act led by Rep. Bob Latta (R-OH) and Rep. Jerry McNerney (D-CA)
