The following press release was published by the House Committee on Energy and Commerce on Sept. 13, 2021. It is reproduced in full below.

Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-NJ) released the following statement today after President Biden announced his intention to nominate Alvaro Bedoya to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC):

“I congratulate Mr. Bedoya on his nomination and commend President Biden for selecting a pro-consumer advocate to join the FTC. Protecting consumers from data privacy abuses, identity theft, fraud, and other unfair and deceptive practices is core to the agency’s mission. Mr. Bedoya will make a strong addition to the Commission, particularly with his extensive background in technology and privacy law, and I trust that he will make an excellent Commissioner. I wish him a speedy confirmation and look forward to working together to protect consumers."
