Washington, D.C - Republican Leader of the Energy and Commerce Committee Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA) released the following statement after House Democrats passed H.R. 5305, Biden’s Inflation Boosting Blank Check.
“From the grocery store to the gas pump, out of control spending has already harshly raised the cost of living on American families. Now Democrats just voted to give President Joe Biden a blank check to fund their grand socialist agenda and print a reckless amount of money, which will worsen their inflation crisis and make the world less safe. The most extreme wing of their party is in charge, which was made clear today by the Democrats’ stunning betrayal to the security of Israel, America’s strongest and closest ally in the Middle East.
“Speaker Pelosi’s $3.5 trillion tax and spending spree is the most aggressive partisan scheme in our nation’s history. It destroys freedom and emboldens our enemies- like China, Russia, and Iran- on the backs of hardworking families by shutting down American energy, lurching us to socialized medicine, and seizing more federal command and control over every part of the economy. America will not win the future if the Left succeeds in their mission to fundamentally transform American life for the worst and saddle the next generation with crippling tax hikes and debt."

“That is not what is happening today as we consider the Energy and Commerce provisions of the Left’s $3.5 trillion tax and spending spree.
“This should be called the Build More Inflation Act. Liberal-led spending has already raised record price increases on working families. Spending $3.5 trillion for a liberal wish list will only make the rising costs worse.
“This is Speaker Pelosi’s grand socialist agenda to destroy freedom and embolden our enemies on the backs of American families. This massive bill fundamentally changes American life and security for the worst.
“Blackouts, unaffordable electricity bills, tax hikes, entire American industries and jobs destroyed, no hope to cure diseases, long lines of the sick begging the government for lifesaving treatments, and weak American defenses against our adversaries like China and Russia.
“That’s the future my colleagues across the aisle are proposing today. The freedom-loving men and women of this country deserve better."
