Washington, D.C. - Energy and Commerce Republican Leader Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA) released the following statement about President Biden’s meeting today with Chinese President Xi Jinping.
“For almost two years, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has destroyed evidence, engaged in a relentless coverup, lied, and spread propaganda to hide its role in how the COVID-19 pandemic started and spread. It’s also an oppressive regime that forces religious and ethnic minorities into slave labor, surveils and controls its own citizens, and aids other hostile regimes that are America’s enemies.
“These aggressive actions from the CCP require strong American leadership. Rather than promote his socialist climate agenda that emboldens China and makes us reliant on its supply chains for wind, solar, and electric vehicles, it’s imperative that the President today holds the CCP accountable. For America to win the future, he cannot and must not be naïve about the CCP’s long history of breaking trust and abusing its power."
