Rodgers Statement on Supreme Court Vaccine Mandate Opinions

The following press release was published by the House Committee on Energy and Commerce on Jan. 13. It is reproduced in full below.

Washington, D.C.- Energy and Commerce Republican Leader Cathy McMorris Rodgers released the following statement after the Supreme Court issued opinions on President Joe Biden’s vaccine mandates.

“The Supreme Court blocked President Biden’s authoritarian vaccine mandate on private sector workers. It’s wrong for anyone to be forced to make a choice to either comply with this federal mandate or lose their livelihoods altogether. The American people should be trusted to make this decision for themselves and their families.

“Regarding President Biden’s mandate on health care workers, the Supreme Court’s opinion doesn’t change reality. His mandate is hurting patient care and making workforce shortages worse. It has the potential to upend our health care system, shut down rural hospitals, and force people to delay care they need. That’s why to protect patient care, every Republican on the Energy and Commerce Committee is leading on a Congressional Review Act resolution to nullify this dangerous mandate."

Note: Congressman Jeff Duncan (R-SC) and House Republicans are leading a resolution under the Congressional Review Act (CRA) to halt the vaccine mandate in order to protect our nation’s frontline health care workers and the patients they serve. It was introduced on Demember 9, 2021.
