Washington, DC - Senate Foreign Relations Committee Chairman John Kerry (D-MA) issued the following statement after learning of the passing of former Secretary of State Lawrence Eagleburger:

“Lawrence Eagleburger was one of America’s finest diplomats, the first career Foreign Service Officer to rise through the ranks to become Secretary of State. He served his country and five presidents with distinction and honor for more than 40 years and I join his family and friends in mourning his passing today."
