“I want to congratulate President Juan Manuel Santos on his reelection and applaud the Colombian people for their participation in yesterday’s electoral process. Over the past decade, Colombia has undergone a remarkable transformation as the effects of the country’s longstanding conflict with guerrilla groups have started to recede. The United States has dedicated the vital resources that have helped bring about stability and prosperity in Colombia, and we will remain unwavering in our commitment to the people and government as the end of the armed conflict approaches."
