WASHINGTON - U.S. Senator Bob Corker (R-Tenn.), chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, released the following statement today regarding his meeting with King Abdullah II of Jordan. The meeting followed news reports of the death of a Jordanian pilot, First Lieutenant Moaz al-Kasasbeh, who was killed after being held hostage by the Islamic State of Iraq and Greater Syria (ISIS).
"I met with King Abdullah II of Jordan today and extended our deepest sympathies to him, to the family of Lt. Moaz al-Kasasbeh, and to the entire nation of Jordan as the world is shocked by the latest brutality of ISIS. We strongly condemn these barbaric acts and stand together with Jordan against our common enemy."
Corker hosted King Abdullah II of Jordan at the U.S. Capitol this afternoon for a meeting with members of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.
