The following was published by the House Committee on Education and Labor on May 3, 2011. It is reproduced in full below.

On Thursday, May 5 at 10:00 a.m., the U.S. House Committee on Education and the Workforce, chaired by Rep. John Kline (R-MN), will hold a hearing entitled, "Policies and Priorities of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services." The hearing will take place in room 2175 of the Rayburn House Office Building.

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services administers a number of social services and welfare programs, such as the Community Services Block Grant and the Child Abuse Prevention and Treatment Act. The department also administers a significant portion of 2010’s health care law (the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act), including provisions that directly affect health care costs and options for employers and workers.

Thursday’s hearing will provide members the opportunity to examine the fiscal and policy priorities of the department. To learn more about this hearing, visit www.republicans-edlabor.house.gov/hearings. WITNESS LIST
