Foxx Reacts to Biden Appointment of Union Sympathizer to NLRB General Counsel

Today, Republican Leader of the Education and Labor Committee Virginia Foxx (R-NC) issued the following statement after President Biden announced he was nominating Jennifer Abruzzo to be the new National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) General Counsel:

“After firing Peter Robb, the Senate-confirmed National Labor Relations Board General Counsel, President Biden now wants to replace him with Jennifer Abruzzo, a union lawyer with a partisan track record whose current employer demanded that Robb be terminated following the 2020 election. Rather than nominate a demonstrated union sympathizer with a potential conflict of interest, President Biden should reinstate Peter Robb so he can honorably serve out the remainder of his four-year term."

Background: Just minutes after being sworn in, President Biden demanded that National Labor Relations Board General Counsel Peter Robb resign from his Senate-confirmed, four-year appointment, or be fired. Earlier this month, Foxx, House Committee on Oversight and Reform Ranking Member James Comer (R-KY.), Representative Tim Walberg (R-MI), and Representative Michael Cloud (R-TX) called on the Biden administration to release documents regarding Biden’s unprecedented removal of NLRB General Counsel Robb and Deputy General Counsel Alice Stock, who replaced Robb after his firing.
