Today, Republican Leader of the Education and Labor Committee Virginia Foxx (R-NC) released the following statement after the Department of Labor issued a final rule to eliminate a Trump-era reporting requirement that added transparency to labor organization finances and union boss spending:
“Secretary Walsh receives his paycheck from the American people, yet he is taking orders from Big Labor. Even after the massive corruption scandal at the United Auto Workers, where 16 individuals, including multiple former union presidents and senior officials, were convicted of embezzling more than $1 million in union funds, Walsh is still against transparency at the upper echelons of union boss spending.
“Workers should know how their unions operate and how their union dues are spent - but now thanks to Walsh they won’t be able to see what union bosses are doing with their hard-earned money."
