The U.S. Department of Commerce wants to find 12 CEOs to join the U.S.-Brazil CEO Forum to join discussions to strengthen the U.S.-Brazil economic and trade relationship.

A dozen CEOs will participate in discussions on issues that include visa and tax reform, customs procedures, education, energy, defense trade and infrastructure, a Feb. 28 Department of Commerce news release said. The forum, started in 2007, provides joint recommendations to the Brazilian and U.S. governments.

“As the United States’ ninth largest export market, Brazil offers American companies tremendous opportunities,” Commerce Secretary Gina M. Raimondo said. “The U.S.-Brazil CEO Forum brings together business leaders to make recommendations directly to the United States and Brazilian governments that will support efforts to improve the business climate and commercial relationship between our countries.”

The Commerce Department seeks members who represent a diverse representation of business sectors, sizes and geographic locations. Candidates must be a CEO or have comparable control of a U.S.-owned or -controlled company with its main headquarters in the U.S. that is currently doing business in both nations.

Applications for 12 positions will be available until April 1.

In 2020, U.S.-Brazil bilateral trade in goods reached nearly $58.5 billion, the news release said. U.S. exports to Brazil reached $35 billion, and $23.3 billion in Brazilian goods were imported by the United States.
