Subcommittee Hearing on Oversight of Positive Train Control Implementation

Washington, DC - Next Thursday, the Subcommittee on Railroads, Pipelines, and Hazardous Materials will hold a hearing to examine the implementation of Positive Train Control (PTC) on America’s freight and passenger rail network. The Subcommittee will hear testimony from representatives of government, safety, industry, and labor on the status of this important safety technology.

The hearing of the Subcommittee on Railroads, Pipelines, and Hazardous Materials, chaired by U.S. Rep. Jeff Denham (R-CA), is entitled, “Oversight of Positive Train Control Implementation in the United States." The hearing is scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 15, 2018, in 2167 Rayburn House Office Building.

Witnesses will include:

* Mr. Juan D. Reyes III, Chief Counsel, Federal Railroad Administration

* The Honorable Robert Sumwalt, Chairman, National Transportation Safety Board

* The Honorable Edward Hamberger, President and Chief Executive Officer, Association of American Railroads

* Mr. Richard Anderson, Chief Executive Officer, Amtrak

* Mr. Paul Skoutelas, President and Chief Executive Officer, American Public Transportation Association

* Mr. John P. Tolman, Vice President and National Legislative Representative, Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen
