Washington, D.C. - The Senate Energy & Natural Resources Committee will hold a business meeting and three hearings next week. The Subcommittee on Public Lands and Forests will also conduct a hearing. The committee will hold a hearing on the FY ‘04 Department of Energy Budget Request Tuesday, February 25 at 10:00 a.m. in SD-366. The invited witness is: The Honorable Spencer Abraham

The committee will hold a business meeting on Wednesday, Feb. 26, at 10 a.m. in SD-366. The agenda is: S. 273 - To direct the Secretary of the Interior to acquire specified State lands within the boundaries of Grand Teton National Park by donation, purchase, or exchange for specified Federal lands of equal value in Wyoming. S. 302 - To direct the Secretary of the Interior to acquire specified lands from willing sellers for addition to Golden Gate National Recreation Area in the State of California. Nomination of Joseph Kelliher to be a Member of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission. Views and Estimates of the Committee on Energy and Natural Resources with respect to those portions of the budget for fiscal year 2004 within the jurisdiction of this Committee.

The Subcommittee on Public Lands and Forests will hold a hearing to receive testimony on four bills on Thursday, Feb. 27, at 3 p.m. in SD-366. The four bills are: S. 246, a bill to provide that certain Bureau of Land Management land shall be held in trust for the Pueblo of Santa Clara and the Pueblo of San Ildefonso in the State of New Mexico; S. 32, a bill to establish Institutes to conduct research on the preservation of, and restoration from, wildfires in forest and woodland ecosystem of the interior West; S. 203, a bill to open certain withdrawn land in Big Horn County, Wyoming, to locatable mineral development for bentonite mining; S. 278, a bill to make certain adjustments to the boundaries of the Mount Naomi Wilderness Area, and for other purposes.
