Senator Barrasso has Phone Call with Energy Nominee Jennifer Granholm

The following press release was published by the Senate Committee On Energy & Natural Resources on Jan. 11, 2021. It is reproduced in full below.

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, U.S. Senator John Barrasso (R-WY) issued the following statement following his phone call with former Michigan Governor Jennifer Granholm, whom President-elect Biden intends to nominate for U.S. Secretary of Energy.

“I had the opportunity to speak with Governor Granholm about her vision for the Energy Department," said Barrasso. “I stressed to her the importance of promoting American energy security, economic strength, and environmental stewardship. America needs an all-of-the-above energy strategy that includes traditional fuels like coal, oil, and gas, as well as nuclear power and renewables. We cannot afford to strand America’s assets in the ground. I want to expand America’s energy dominance, while promoting environmental innovation. We must do both. I look forward to hearing more from her when she comes before the Energy and Natural Resources Committee."
