Cincinnati, OH - U.S. Marshal Pete Tobin is pleased to announce that during the morning hours of Jan. 3, 2019, the U.S. Marshals Southern Ohio Fugitive Apprehension Strike Team (SOFAST) arrested fugitive Jamil L. Mitchell on an outstanding warrant from the Superior Court of Cumberland County, New Jersey for Attempted Murder and Aggravated Assault.
On June 24, 2018, Mitchell allegedly assaulted a victim with a firearm within Bridgeton City, NJ. Cumberland County investigators filed an arrest warrant for Mitchell. The U.S. Marshals SOFAST in Cincinnati, OH, with assistance from the Mason Police Department, developed information Mitchell was in an apartment complex in Cincinnati, OH. SOFAST quickly arrested Mitchell without incident.
Mitchell is currently in custody at the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office and will soon be extradited back to NJ to face his charges.
Cincinnati’s SOFAST is a U.S. Marshals Service-led task force consisting of local, state, and federal authorities including the Adult Parole Authority, Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office, Butler County Probation Office, Cincinnati Police Department, Colerain Township Police Department, Department of Homeland Security/ Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Golf Manor Police Department, Harrison Police Department, Social Security Administration Office of the Inspector General, and Warren County Prosecutor’s Office.
