Springfield, MO - U.S. Marshal Mark S. James, Western District of Missouri, announces the arrest of fugitive Johnny Dell Bryan II, on January 31st, 2019, in Springfield.
Johnny Dell Bryan II, of Springfield, Missouri, was charged in Taney County with multiple violent felony charges including two counts of 1st Degree Domestic Assault with Serious Physical Injuries, in a case that was investigated by the Taney County Sheriff’s Office. A warrant was issued for Bryan’s arrest on Sept. 25, 2018. The charges stemmed from the September 23rd assault of Heather Griffin, 38, of Kirbyville, Missouri. On this date, Bryan is alleged to have severely beaten Griffin during a domestic violence incident, leaving Griffin hospitalized and requiring surgery. Bryan had remained a fugitive from justice since the September 2018 assault.
On January 18th, the U.S. Marshals Service-Midwest Violent Fugitive Task Force joined in the search for Bryan, along with the Taney County Sheriff’s Office, the Springfield Police Department, and the Greene County Sheriff’s Office. On January 31st, task force investigators tracked Bryan to a residence in the 1200 block of West Atlantic Street in Springfield, Missouri. There, Deputy Marshals surrounded the residence along with multiple units from the Springfield Police Department. After a standoff with police, Bryan ultimately surrendered to officers with the Springfield Police Department-Special Response Team without further incident.
The arrest of this violent fugitive represents the culmination of an extensive investigative effort by the U.S. Marshals Service-Midwest Violent Fugitive Task Force, the Taney County Sheriff’s Office, the Springfield, Missouri Police Department, and the Greene County Sheriff’s Office.
The U.S. Marshals Midwest Violent Fugitive Task Force-Springfield Division, operates in conjunction with members of the Greene County Sheriff’s Office, the Christian County Sheriff’s Office, the Springfield Police Department, and the Joplin Police Department. The task force objectives are to seek out and arrest fugitives charged with violent crimes, drug offenses, sex offenders and other serious felonies. Nationally the United States Marshals Service fugitive programs are carried out with local law enforcement in 94 district offices, 85 local fugitive task forces, 7 regional task forces, as well as a growing network of offices in foreign countries.
