Memphis, TN - Taurean McShan, who allegedly severely injured an Atlanta, GA police officer, was arrested today.
On 2-3-07 Atlanta Georgia Police Officer Levar Sims was run over by a pickup truck allegedly driven by Taurean McShan. The incident was captured on video. The suspect eluded authorities Sunday has been on the run since. He was wanted for Aggravated Assault.
This afternoon the fugitive was tracked to 3000 block of Brompton by investigators with the U.S. Marshals Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force. They were assisted by the Metro Gang Unit, which consists of the Memphis Police Department and the Shelby County Sheriff’s office.
Investigators arrived on scene and the fugitive fled on foot. He then climbed on top of a rooftop to hide. He was spotted, surrounded and taken into custody without further incident.
At the time of this release he is at the Shelby County Detention Center awaiting extradition.
The U.S. Marshals Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force is a multi-agency task force with divisions in Tennessee, Alabama, Mississippi and Louisiana. The Western Tennessee Division of the GCRFTF has offices in Memphis and Jackson, and its membership is primarily composed of Deputy U.S. Marshals, Shelby County Sheriff’s Deputies, Memphis Police Officers, Madison County Sheriff’s Deputies, Jackson Police Officers, BATF, and the Tennessee Department of Corrections Special Agents. The primary mission of the Task Force is to arrest violent offenders and sexual predators.
