Memphis, TN - Andrew Hellums, a former Memphis Police Officer, was arrested by the U.S. Marshals Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive earlier today.
Hellums was wanted for 48 counts of Sexual Acts Against a Minor out of San Joaquin, CA.
Hellums was located at the 8700 block of Hunters Run Drive in Olive Branch, MS. With the assistance of the Olive Branch Police Department he was taken into custody without incident.
On Feb. 2, Hellums was arrested by local authorities for Sexual Exploitation Of A Minor and Solicitation Of A Minor.
At the time of this release he remains in the Desoto County Detention Center awaiting extraditio.
The U.S. Marshals Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force is a multi-agency task force with divisions in Tennessee, Alabama, Mississippi and Louisiana. The Western Tennessee Division of the GCRFTF has offices in Memphis and Jackson, and its membership is primarily composed of Deputy U.S. Marshals, Shelby County Sheriff’s Deputies, Memphis Police Officers, Madison County Sheriff’s Deputies, Jackson Police Officers, BATF, and the Tennessee Department of Corrections Special Agents. The primary mission of the Task Force is to arrest violent offenders and sexual predators.
