Abingdon, VA - U.S. Marshals major fugitive charged with killing his ex-wife will be the subject of an upcoming episode of “In Pursuit with John Walsh," scheduled to air at 10 p.m., March 27 on ID Discovery.
Eric Monroe Jones, 48, is charged with killing Janina Jefferson Nov. 28, 2016, at the Appalachia water plant where she worked as an operator.
Immediately after Jefferson’s body was discovered, the Wise County Sheriff’s Office identified Jones as a suspect and began looking for him. Jones was charged with first-degree murder, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and use of a firearm during the commission of first-degree murder.
In April 2017, the U.S. Marshals began working the case with the WCSO and upgraded it to major status, due to the time Jones had been on the run.
The Marshals are now offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to Jones’ arrest.

The USMS has a long history of providing assistance and expertise to other federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies in support of their fugitive investigations. The USMS is the lead agency for eight Congressionally-funded regional fugitive task forces. These task forces, staffed by federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies, target the most dangerous fugitives.
