Washington, PA - The search for 15 Most Wanted fugitive Peter Chadwick is over. The millionaire murder suspect was arrested Sunday, Aug. 4, in the city of Atlixco, approximately 90 miles outside of Mexico City.

Chadwick, 54, was wanted by the Newport Beach Police Department for murder of his wife of 21 years, Quee Chadwick. On Oct. 10, 2012, the father of three allegedly strangled his wife at their Newport Beach home and then placed her body in a trash dumpster in San Diego County. He was arrested the following day and charged with her murder. On Jan. 5, 2015, while out on a $1.5 million bond, Chadwick failed to appear for a court hearing. Authorities contacted the U.S. Marshals Service Pacific Southwest Regional Fugitive Task Force to help locate him. During their investigation, task force members learned Chadwick had emptied bank accounts worth millions before he disappeared. Now after nearly seven years on the run, the former real estate investor turned fugitive is back behind bars.

The fugitive investigation for Chadwick gained momentum in July when U.S. Marshals investigators received a lead that helped them develop substantial information about his possible whereabouts in Mexico. Working closely with Mexican authorities, the Marshals were able to narrow his location to Atlixco, Puebla, Mexico. On Sunday, Chadwick was found in an Atlixco residence in possession of numerous false identification cards.

Authorities returned Chadwick to the U.S. on Monday where he is now in the custody of the Newport Beach Police Department.
