Homicide Suspest Surrenders

The following news release was published by the U.S. Department of Justice, U.S. Marshals Service on Sept. 12, 2019. It is reproduced in full below.

Norfolk, VA - A man wanted for a July 2005 stabbing death in Hampton turned himself in to law enforcement authorities on the evening of Sept. 11, 2019.

Jihad Ramadan, 32, had been a fugitive since 2005 and is facing homicide charges by the Hampton Police Department.

U.S. Marshals believe that the constant pressure on the family to give up Ramadan, as well as numerous news releases, played a factor in Ramadan turning himself in. He is currently being housed at the Norfolk City Jail.

“I am proud of the Deputy Marshals and task force officers from the various District offices that have worked on this 14 year investigation. It is my sincere hope that the efforts of the Marshals Service will in some small way assist to bring a sense of closure to the victim’s family, and will also give the citizens here in Virginia comfort in knowing that since 1789, the Marshals Service continues to work daily to serve the public with Justice, Integrity and Service." said U.S. Marshal Nick E. Proffitt.

Nationally, the U.S. Marshals Service fugitive apprehension efforts are carried out with local law enforcement in 94 district offices, 85 local fugitive task forces, 8 regional task forces, as well as a growing network of offices in foreign countries.
