Scranton, PA - Today, U.S. Marshal Martin J. Pane announced the arrest of Sakirn Oluwafemi - a 16-year old man with past addresses in Scranton and Gettysburg.
On April 25, 2020, the Scranton Police Department investigated a shooting in the 1100 block of Cornell Street. As a result of their investigation detectives obtained an arrest warrant charging Oluwafemi as an adult and for the crime of Aggravated Assault with a deadly weapon. The case was adopted by the U.S. Marshals Service (USMS) Fugitive Task Force.
Today, at about 4:45 a.m., task force members visited a home in the 400 block of Railroad Avenue, Scranton as part of the investigation to apprehend Oluwafemi. When officers knocked on the front door, Oluwafemi jumped from a ground floor window in an attempt to escape but was taken into custody. He was turned over to the Scranton Police Department for processing.
United States Marshal Martin J. Pane stated, “We place a high priority on fugitive cases in which the use of violence against victims occurs. It’s important to ensure these victims have the ability to face the accused. I commend these fugitive hunters on a safe apprehension in bringing Mr. Oluwafemi to justice."
The USMS Fugitive Task Force in the Middle District of Pennsylvania is comprised of 20 state, county and local police agencies, including: the Pennsylvania State Police; the Pennsylvania Board of Probation and Parole; the Scranton Police Department; the Wilkes-Barre Police Department; the Bradford County Sheriff’s Office, and the Kingston Police Department - all of whom participated in this investigation.
