Washington - U.S. Marshals in Georgia today arrested a Maryland man suspected of a murder in connection with an armed robbery in Waldorf, Maryland, Oct. 1.
Members of the Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force (SERFTF) took Gregory DeShawn Collins Jr., 22, into custody shortly after 3 p.m. at a residence in Hinesville, Georgia.
Collins is a suspect in the murder of Lynn Marie Maher, 49, of White Plains. Maher was a clerk at the 7-Eleven on Middletown Road.
Charles County Sheriffs announced Collins as a suspect on Oct. 16 and obtained a warrant for his arrest. A reward of up to $42,500 was being offered for information leading to his arrest and indictment.
The U.S. Marshals Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force adopted the warrant and worked with their partners at the Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force and the SERFTF, eventually developing information that placed Collins in Georgia. They sent a lead to the SERFTF, who located Collins and made the arrest without incident.
