Concord, NH - The hard-work of investigators both in New Hampshire and Florida yesterday led to the quick arrest of this week’s “Fugitive of the Week." At approximately 5:00pm last evening, “Fugitive of the Week," James Giles Jackson, III, 32 years-of-age, who was last known to reside in Manchester, NH was arrested by the U.S. Marshal’s in Tampa, Florida as he got off a bus. Jackson was being sought on a federal arrest warrant which was issued by the U.S. District Court in Concord, NH. This warrant alleges that Jackson was in violation of his conditions of supervised release. Mr. Jackson was on supervised release due to a prior federal conviction and sentence for an armed home invasion during which he discharged a firearm.
The NH Joint Fugitive Task Force was actively seeking to arrest Jackson yesterday, when information was developed indicating that he had fled New Hampshire and was enroute to Florida. This information was forwarded to our U.S. Marshals counterparts in Tampa, Florida. The U.S. Marshals in Tampa waited for a bus that Jackson was reportedly on and arrested him as soon as he arrived at the bus station.
Jackson had just been featured as the “Fugitive of the Week" this past Wednesday and marked as Armed & Dangerous due to the offense involved. The “Fugitive of the Week" was aired on WTPL-FM, The Union Leader, The Nashua Telegraph, The Patch, Foster’s Daily Democrat, Manchester Information, the Manchester Ink Link, the Rochester Voice and prominently featured on the internet. The “Fugitive of the Week" continues to be a very successful tool that has resulted in the location and arrest of over 500 fugitives since its implementation in 2007. Additionally, the “Fugitive of the Week" was distributed statewide to all law enforcement officers in New Hampshire.
Jackson was transported to the Pinellas County (FL) Jail, where he was booked and held pending his initial court appearance in U.S. District Court in Tampa, FL. This hearing will be a warrant of removal hearing, during which it will be decided if Jackson will remain in custody until he is returned to New Hampshire to face his supervised release violations.
Since the inception of the U.S. Marshals - New Hampshire Joint Fugitive Task Force in 2002, these partnerships have resulted in over 8,218 arrests (Updated as of 12/16/2020). These arrests have ranged in seriousness from murder, assault, unregistered sex offenders, probation and parole violations and numerous other serious offenses. Nationally the United States Marshals Service fugitive programs are carried out with local law enforcement in 94 district offices, 85 local fugitive task forces, 8 regional task forces, as well as a growing network of offices in foreign countries.
