Concord, NH - The U.S. Marshals - New Hampshire Joint Fugitive Task Force is extremely pleased to announce the arrest of “Fugitive of the Week," Jonathan Navarro-Gomez. Navarro-Gomez was arrested by the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force in Guayama, Puerto Rico last evening.
Jonathan Navarro-Gomez, 27 years-of-age, who was last known to reside in Manchester, NH had been featured as the “Fugitive of the Week" on Feb. 17, 2021. Navarro-Gomez was being sought by the U.S. Marshals after he was indicted in U.S. District Court in Concord, NH on charges of possession with intent to distribute controlled substances. The “Fugitive of the Week" was aired on WTPL-FM, WNTK-FM, The Union Leader, The Nashua Telegraph, The Patch, Foster’s Daily Democrat, Manchester Information, the Manchester Ink Link, the Rochester Voice and prominently featured on the internet. The “Fugitive of the Week" continues to be a very successful tool that has resulted in the location and arrest of over 500 fugitives since its implementation in 2007. Additionally, the “Fugitive of the Week" was distributed statewide to all law enforcement officers in New Hampshire.
After being featured as the “Fugitive of the Week," several tips were received pointing investigators to an area of Guayama, Puerto Rico. This information was shared with our US Marshals counterparts in Puerto Rico, who followed up on all of the tips. Eventually, this information led to Navarro-Gomez’s location, but he was able to flee prior to be arrested. Last evening, the persistence of the US Marshals - Puerto Rico Violent Offenders Task Force paid off. They were able to locate and arrest Navarro-Gomez without incident even though he had changed his appearance after he had fled from authorities a couple of weeks earlier.
Navarro-Gomez was transported to the Metropolitan Detention Center in Guaynabo, Puerto Rico for processing and holding pending his initial court appearance. This court appearance will be conducted at the US District Court in San Juan, PR later today. At this court hearing, it will be determined if Navarro-Gomez should be held without bail pending his return to New Hampshire.
This investigation and arrest was made by several member agencies that make up the U.S. Marshals - NH Joint Fugitive Task Force, including; Belknap, Rockingham and Strafford County Sheriff’s Offices, the Greenfield Police Department, Federal Protective Service along with deputy US Marshals in both New Hampshire and Puerto Rico.
Since the inception of the U.S. Marshals - New Hampshire Joint Fugitive Task Force in 2002, these partnerships have resulted in over 8,218 arrests (Updated as of 12/16/2020). These arrests have ranged in seriousness from murder, assault, unregistered sex offenders, probation and parole violations and numerous other serious offenses. Nationally the United States Marshals Service fugitive programs are carried out with local law enforcement in 94 district offices, 85 local fugitive task forces, 8 regional task forces, as well as a growing network of offices in foreign countries.
