Concord, NH - The U.S. Marshals - NH Joint Fugitive Task Force is very pleased to announce the arrest of another “Fugitive of the Week" today in Claremont, New Hampshire.
Thomas Arbuckle, 39 years-of-age, was last known to be transient living somewhere along the border of New Hampshire and Vermont. Mr. Arbuckle was wanted by the Claremont Police Department on an arrest warrant issued on September 17th. This warrant was issued after an incident in which Arbuckle was alleged to fled law enforcement nearly striking two police officers, which resulted in the following charges being filed against him; reckless conduct with a deadly weapon X2, conduct after an accident, resisting arrest and receiving stolen property.
As part of this investigation, Mr. Arbuckle had been featured as the “Fugitive of the Week" on Sept. 29, 2021. This feature was aired on WTPL-FM, WNTK-FM, WTSN-FM, WEMJ-FM, The Union Leader, The Nashua Telegraph, The Patch, Manchester Information, the Manchester Ink Link, The Rochester & Lebanon Voice and prominently featured on the internet. The “Fugitive of the Week" continues to be a very successful tool that has resulted in the location and arrest of over 500 fugitives since its implementation in 2007. Additionally, the “Fugitive of the Week" was also to be distributed statewide to all law enforcement officers in New Hampshire.
After Mr. Arbuckle was featured as the “Fugitive of the Week," several tips were received pointing to locations in both New Hampshire and Vermont. Fortunately, the most recent information received pointed investigators to an apartment on Princeton Street in Claremont, NH. After conducting surveillance in this area, an individual resembling Arbuckle was seen looking outside the door at the residence. Members of the US Marshals -NH Joint Fugitive Task Force, including members from the Claremont Police Department, NH State Police, the Rockingham, and Strafford County Sheriff’s Office, along with deputy US Marshals went to the residence. After getting all the occupants out of the residence, Arbuckle continued to refuse to exit the residence. A Claremont Police Department K-9 was deployed along with task force personnel inside the residence. During this search, Mr. Arbuckle was located secreted in the bottom of a closet. Arbuckle was removed from the closet and arrested without further incident. Arbuckle was transported to the Claremont Police Department for processing on the outstanding warrant and will be held pending his initial court appearance.
U.S. Marshal, Nick Willard said, “We are fortunate to have such strong partnerships with law enforcement throughout the State of New Hampshire and beyond." Willard continued, “As long as we have fugitives, the U.S. Marshals and their partners will find you. Surrendering is always the best option!"
Since the inception of the U.S. Marshals - New Hampshire Joint Fugitive Task Force in 2002, these partnerships have resulted in over 8,218 arrests (Updated as of 12/16/2020). These arrests have ranged in seriousness from murder, assault, unregistered sex offenders, probation and parole violations and numerous other serious offenses. Nationally the United States Marshals Service fugitive programs are carried out with local law enforcement in 94 district offices, 85 local fugitive task forces, 8 regional task forces, as well as a growing network of offices in foreign countries.
