Columbus, OH - The U.S. Marshals’ Florida/Caribbean Regional Fugitive Task Force (FCRFTF) arrested fugitive Frank D. Mitchell on Nov. 18, 2021, on an outstanding arrest warrant from Franklin County, Ohio.
Mitchell was wanted by the Columbus Police Department in Ohio for Murder. On August 24th, 2021, Mitchell allegedly used a firearm to shoot a male victim in the 400 Block of North Garfield Ave, Columbus, Ohio. U.S. Marshals’ Southern Ohio Fugitive Apprehension Strike Team (SOFAST) adopted the Mitchell arrest warrant on Sept. 13, 2021. The Columbus Police Department Homicide Unit, Columbus Police Department S.W.A.T, and SOFAST received information Mitchell fled Ohio and was living in the State of Florida. SOFAST requested assistance from FCRFTF, Mitchell was quickly located in Port Richey, FL.
Mitchell is currently in the custody of the Pasco County Sheriff's Office, New Port Richey, FL and will soon be extradited back to Ohio. U.S. Marshal, Peter Tobin said, “All law enforcement agencies involved were able to quickly work together to bring a violent fugitive to justice." Columbus SOFAST is a fugitive-focused, U.S. Marshals Service-led task force consisting of local, state and federal authorities including the Columbus Division of Police, Ohio Adult Parole Authority, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Cambridge Police Department, Delaware County Probation Office, Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, Hocking County Sheriff’s Office, Lancaster Police Department, Ohio Attorney General Bureau of Criminal Investigation, Ohio State Highway Patrol, United States Secret Service, U.S. Attorney’s Office, Washington County Sheriff’s Office, and Zanesville Police Department.
