Washington, D.C. - Rep. Elijah E. Cummings, Ranking Member of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, issued the following statement in response to the Senate’s confirmation today of Richard Cordray to continue leading the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB):

“I applaud the Senate’s confirmation of Richard Cordray as CFPB Director. Today’s long-overdue action recognizes that the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act is the law of the land and that Mr. Cordray has proven to be the advocate consumers need and Congress envisioned when creating the CFPB."
