HAPPENING TODAY: Leader Pelosi, Dems Visit Children’s Hospital and Release New State Reports on Disastrous Effects of GOP Healthcare Bill on Children with Disabilities

The following press release was published by the House Committee on Oversight and Reform on June 27, 2017. It is reproduced in full below.

Washington, DC -Today, Democratic Members of Congress will hold a media availability after they tour Children’s National Medical Center and meet with patients and their families. More than half of the patients at Children’s National are on Medicaid.

The event will coincide with new reports prepared by the Democratic staff of the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform detailing the disastrous state-specific impact that Republican efforts to repeal the Affordable Care Act and slash Medicaid funding would have on children with severe disabilities and special health care needs-44% of whom rely on Medicaid for their care.

The delegation will also meet with hospital administrators to learn how they care for this vulnerable population.

The Senate is slated to vote on the Republicans’ healthcare legislation as soon as this week.
