Comer: Democrats are Playing Political Games with the Census Again

The following press release was published by the House Committee on Oversight and Reform on Dec. 10, 2020. It is reproduced in full below.

WASHINGTON-House Committee on Oversight and Reform Ranking Member James Comer (R-Ky.) today issued the following statement after Oversight Democrats needlessly issued a subpoena to an already cooperative Census Bureau.

“Today’s subpoena issued by Chairwoman Maloney is completely unnecessary and pure political theater. The Census Bureau and Department of Commerce have been cooperative with the House Oversight Committee, but Democrats are so fixated on playing political games and putting on a show for the media that they’re demanding documents already being produced as fast as possible. This subpoena won’t change anything. We already expect a complete and accurate count for the 2020 Census. If the Democrats were truly interested in the facts, they would have invited Census Bureau officials to testify at the past two hearings on this subject. Instead, Democrats continue their theatrics while ignoring pressing issues, such as the integrity of the 2020 election."
