An Ohio man will spend 30 years in prison for receiving, possessing and distributing child pornography.
According to a March 17 press release from the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Northern District of Ohio, Holden Gallagher, 29, of Sylvania, was sentenced March 16 to 30 years in prison followed by a lifetime of supervised release after pleading guilty to sexual exploitation of a minor, as well as receipt, possession and distribution of pornographic material containing a child.
"The Justice Department and law enforcement in this region will work tirelessly to deter and prosecute those who prey upon our children," Acting U.S. Attorney Michelle M. Baeppler said in the release. "Mr. Gallagher, a repeat offender, has earned this lengthy prison sentence and will no longer be able to abuse others."
A federal search warrant was executed on Gallagher's property in July 2015, during which time multiple electronic devices containing child pornography were seized. Some of the images depicted a minor Gallagher knew personally and coerced into producing and sending the images.
Gallagher was a registered sex offender at the time of his offenses.
“Criminal misconduct with the intent to exploit children is reprehensible,” said FBI Special Agent in Charge Eric B. Smith. “The investigative work of the FBI underscores our duty to protect children from heinous individuals. Our partnerships with federal and state investigators in concert with local agencies continue to make an impact in our communities to thwart predatory behavior.”
