Californian resident Shefali Duggal, the nominee as U.S. Ambassador to The Netherlands, said she remains committed to political advocacy.

The March 24 State Department certificate of competency for the immigrant from India said her demonstrated commitment to the American democratic process and advancing human rights, along with her understanding that all voices must be heard in a multi-ethnic society, make her a well-qualified candidate.

“I am genuinely committed to political advocacy. My aspiration is to motivate others, in some small way, to become politically engaged,” Razdan Duggal said, according to her website. “I sincerely believe that each person, from any particular diverse ethnic and socioeconomic background, can fundamentally make a positive impact within the United States.”

She has been nominated to replace current Chargé d’Affaires Marja Verloop as U.S. Ambassador to The Netherlands, according to a March 28 State Newswire story.

Razdan Duggal is a  San Francisco committee member of Human Rights Watch, which her website called “a nonprofit, non-governmental human rights organization which investigates abuses, exposes facts and advocates with those in power to create lasting change.”

She serves on the Leadership and Character Council at Wake Forest University, Winston-Salem, N.C., and on the National Advisory Board of Inside Washington at Miami University, Oxford, Ohio. She served as a deputy national finance chair at the Democratic National Committee, according to her website.

Her other affiliations include serving as a Western Region Advisor to the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum, the website said.

She served on the Rules Standing Committee for the 2016 Democratic National Convention held in Philadelphia, and was also on the National Finance Committee for Hillary for America during her 2016 presidential campaign, the website said.
