DOL Has Failed to be Transparent with the American People

The following was published by the House Committee on Education and Labor on April 1. It is reproduced in full below.

Today, Education and Labor Committee Republican Leader Virginia Foxx (R-NC) sent a letter to Department of Labor Secretary Walsh regarding his lack of transparency and accountability to taxpayers.

Republican Leader Foxx writes: “Yesterday, I read an article discussing your official calendar and lack of attendance in Washington, D.C. from March 2021 through December 2021. As you know, I am deeply concerned about your failure to report to work and about the poor example you are setting for your staff at the Department of Labor…You have provided copies of your calendars for certain members of the press. However, you have a deeper obligation to provide the public access to your calendars."

Rep. Foxx concludes: “Members of Congress and the public must be able to review updated official calendars of top government officials. Unfortunately, DOL missed the mark again."
